During Helsinki Design Week 2024, we had a joy to have our first event outside Finland – in the impressive Fotografiska Tallinn.

In the panel we had a group of very experienced creative leaders from Finland, Estonia and Iceland. We talked about how to start something new and inspire others to join.

Participants of the discussion were:

  • Margit Aasmäe – Co-Founder & CEO of Fotografiska Tallinn

  • Aleksi Malmberg – General Manager of Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra

  • Helen Sildna – Founder & Head of Tallinn Music Week & Station Narva

  • Iiris Autio – Managing Director of Tero Saarinen Company

  • Steinunn Ragnarsdóttir – Executive & Artistic Director of The Icelandic Opera

  • Hannes Praks – Chairman of Estonian Centre for Architecture & Co-Founder of research-based design studio Kuidas.works

  • Discussion was led by Virpi Haavisto – Founder & Director of Creative Leaders Forum & Avantage.

The event was part of Helsinki Design Week, the largest design festival in the Nordic countries, organized 6.-15.9.2024.

We made two times history in Fotografiska: the event was the first CLF event outside Finland, and the first Helsinki Design Week satellite event outside Finland.

The event was hosted by Fotografiska Tallinn, and organised by Avantage in cooperation with Fotografiska Tallinn and Performa Borealis. The event is supported also by the Tallin Culture & Sports Department. The event was streamed by Videolevels. Fotografiska is a contemporary museum of photography, art and culture. Performa Borealis is an Estonian production company focusing on film and performing arts as well as events production. Videolevels makes it easy for artists, events and businesses to have their own custom video streaming platform. Avantage is a Finnish coaching agency specialised in supporting the work of creative professionals, leaders and teams worldwide.

An After-Forum "Behind the Scenes" tour in Telliskivi Creative Area on September 11th 2024:

The next day after the forum, on September 11th 2024 at 10:30-13:30, Performa Borealis’s founders Kristiina Reidolv and Inga Koppel organised a "Behind the scenes" tour in Telliskivi creative area to visit some local art & culture organisations.

“Behind the scenes” took the participants on a tour of the Telliskivi Creative City, a strong tenant community of 250 companies and 1500 people. We learnt about the vision and story behind the Telliskivi Creative Hub and got an overview about the tenants and the activities of this creative hub as well as met some of the key persons behind the creative industries companies and cultural institutions who have found homes there. https://telliskivi.cc/en/
